Default hello!!

-----------------------------------------------

hi!

i thought it was about time i joined a forum after a year or so off of it!
i'm kirsty, though have been nicknamed poppins for years by friends so thought it was a bit better as a username! i'm 26 and i live near aberdeen with my husband and 5 year old daughter (both also horsey, thank goodness!)
i grew up with horses and worked for years in argyll on a wonderful yard. i now have my very own fantastic boy, merlin. he's a 9yr old, 16.2 welsh d x russian arab. i got him for my birthday last year after parting ways with my old tb who went off to a retirement home nearby. we're only just getting started to do things now really as 2 months after i got him i came off a friends horse and broke my breastbone and punctured my lung, and wasnt able to ride until the end of may, and its taken the past few months to work myself back up to full riding fitness but finally we're there!!
my husband and daughter have their own horses too, stu has a 14.1 highland, troy, and my little girl, katy, has a 2 year old welsh b, righ. we've had righ since weaning and its been lovely to see the bond between the two of them. katy's been having lessons about a year now and the hope is that by getting her a baby she learns that he is about a lot more than riding and by the time he's ready she'll be of an ability to ride him.
we also have a german shepherd, faileas, a cat, lulu, and an indian ringneck parakeet, coco.
im looking forward to getting to know you all on here!!

kirsty xx

Hi Kirsty, thanks for the lovely intro...you seem to have your hands full there!

I love the story about your little'n & her pony, you are so right, there is so much more to a horse than just the riding.

Glad you are on the mend also.

I'm Sonya, I have a 14.2 sec d mare & the kids have a cob x pony who is miss attitude LOL

Hi Kirsty, I'm fairly new to the site too. Love your pics of the horses. Your Troy reminds me of my little welshie I had to have put to sleep 2 wks ago - he used to give me lovely kisses. I miss him desperately. I still have Red, he's a 16hh TB x and all on his own now :( I'm trying to pluck up the courage to get back on him after a 3 month rest recovering from a hip injury ( me that is, not Red!) I've got four sons and none of them are horsey - you're very lucky !

hi guys, thanks for the lovely welcome!!
sonya, i do have my hands full but they're so worth it!! and katy is a fab wee helper, for being so young she really puts the work in!
tamsin i know exactly how you feel, after my accident i was terrified to get back on merlin, i think its worse the longer that you're off, but once i got back on i got back into it fast enough!
xx

I had an accident on my mare back in May, still feel sick to ride her...infact just took on a sharer to take some pressure off me, it was doing me nor Meg any good :( feel really crap about it to be honest!

Anyhow...my daughter who's 4 helps me with the horsey chores, done more poo picking than my older kids ever have!
