Default Desperate for help with feet- Ian? Anyone?

-----------------------------------------------

HAve a look at this thread from TF.

http://www.totalfrance.com/france/fo...=337745#337745

This pony was rescued a while ago now and you can see the state her feet were in. Despite lots of foot care she still cannot walk on her hooves.

Does anyone one know a farrier who might give a more compassionate view of her and what might be done or maybe Ian, what do you think?

I read this thread on TF, poor little thing.

I am no expert, but I would have thought that it is going to be very hard to put this pony right and I don't see how farriery can help.

She has learned to walk this way through years of overlong hooves. All of the tendons in her fetlock joints will be seriously deformed now and I doubt they will have the strength necessary to bring the joints upright again.

I think if anyone can help her, it is more likely to be a vet than a farrier.

Oh Gail!,
it makes you want to be sick, Maybe it's worth exploring the vaious horse boots for hooves. Have no experience of them myself but IF YOU google horse boots a ruck of them come up. The people who make them might have some good ideas.
