Hello all. I am new to the forum and would like to introduce myself. My name is Wendy and I have two older dark bay thoroughbreds. I started riding as a kid and did some showing then moved on to training of my personal horses, general pleasure/trail riding, teaching beginning horsemanship and just enjoying my horses. In recent years I have acquired some experience in post surgical rehab of horses as my gelding had surgery for a street nail injury in 2008 and my mare just had surgery for septic arthritis in left rear fetlock last week. I wish you all every joy with your horses!

On 19th September 2010 I will be participating in the Great North Run (http://www.greatrun.org/events/Event.aspx?id=1) half marathon (13.1 miles)...

On 19th September 2010 I will be participating in the Great North Run half marathon (13.1 miles) race in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

I'm raising money for Starlight UK which is a charity which aims to grant wishes for serious and terminally ill children.

Specifically I am fundraising to raise money to help a sick little girl called Demi-Lee achieve her dream of going to Disney Land.

It has been a hard slog training for the event and I still find every mile I run very hard work. Somehow though I've reached a distance of 12 miles in two hours which should enable me to finish the race in a respectable time and hopefully not on my hands and knees!

I would be really grateful if Equine Online's lovely members could dig deep and spare whatever they can. You can add a donation here:

Just donate, then send your username to info@equineonline.net for your account to be updated.
Whether you can help financially or not please help spread the word by sharing this post on Facebook and Twitter and pass the link on to anyone else who may be able to help.

Thank you!

Hello

I am looking ahead and wondering about feeding sugar beet this winter. Nobody down here seems to use it except maybe for sheep, and I have been told by other english people that the french sugar beet is just not the same as in the UK and doesn't "work" so well.

Now I have found out that there are all kinds of varieties being used and grown here in France so I am really confused now.

Any advice please?

Thanks

Back at the end of July, I got a phone call from a chap asking if we were still looking for an RDA horse (15hh + weight carrier etc.). We were, and he said he had something that might suit. So I gave his details to our chairman. Lo and behold, we went up to see her a couple of days later - and bought her within a few days!

So, here's our latest RDA addition - Sally, a 9yo 16.2hh Irish Draft X Clydesdale.
